"This is a good explication of Ben Hogan's "Five Lessons" for anyone who is trying to improve his game by applying Hogan's genius. It is kind of a simpler explanation of Hogan's book, with helpful photographs. Written by John Andrisani, who also wrote Fred Couples' "Total Shotmaking.""

- A great book with a lot of information.
- This is a good explication of Ben Hogan's "Five Lessons" for anyone who is trying to improve his game by applying Hogan's genius. It is kind of a simpler explanation of Hogan's book, with helpful photographs. Written by John Andrisani, who also wrote Fred Couples' "Total Shotmaking."
- Nice Hogan book. Good pictures and discussion.
- Great
- the best book you can read on this Hogan swing- more then one secret revealed priusbob
- There are a number of differences between the way Ben Hogan said to swing the golf club and the way he actually swung it. This book nicely nicely dissects these differences. It also outlines a number of 'lost fundamentals' -- important aspects of Hogan's swing that were never discussed in either of his books. Finally, there is an extensive discussion of Hogan's "secret", the move that allowed him to be one of the most accurate ball strikers of all time. Of particular value in this regard are a series of rare down the line photos that clearly illustrate to the keen eye how Hogan kept the orientation of his clubhead consistent thru contact.
- This book contains the three elements common to nearly all instructionals--valuable information, conjecture, and falsehood. Only proportion varies from book to book. I normally just giggle a bit in disbelief after reading half-baked passages and move on, but I really wonder how many readers actually catch them. This book is a rare one, in that it is mostly conjecture and falsehood sprinkled with some valuable new information; yet the author airs all as irrefutable. I wouldn't normally care so much, except that the subject is one very dear to me. My swing was born of Hogan's. I studied his swing to exhaustion and modeled mine after observation. A few of my observations are present in Andrisani's book, a few more are misinterpretations, and a hundred more are left out. I don't fault the author for not observing all that I have. I fault him for his gigantic presumptive leaps. Only the advanced, analytically-minded golfer will be able to sort out the right from the wrong. This is not to say a beginner can get nothing from the book; it contains sound principles that can do no harm. It also contains a previously unpublished down-the-line 2-iron sequence of an older Hogan. But if what you are after is the definitive treatise on the Hogan technique, you won't find it here. The author really jumped the gun on this one.
- It's too bad I was not able to give The Hogan Way six stars, because it certainly deserves that high rating. I have read numerous magazine articles and books looking to solve the mysteries of Hogan perfect swing technique. Finally and author has explained Hogan's swing secrets -- many that he never talked about or apparently was not aware of himself. Another reason I enjoyed this book so much is the photographs. Even in Hogan's bestselling book, Five Fundamentals, there were no photographs. In this one, a rare photographic sequence showing Hogan swinging, plus other photographs of this shotmaking master playing other shots, helped me understand Hogan's swing. A tremendous reference book that I will refer to throughout my golfing life.
